It’s hard to imagine a 2020 without COVID-19, now that it’s been with us for so long. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem to be going anywhere, any time soon. With that said, it’s up to us as a community to do all that we can to minimize the spread of the virus.
With the pandemic virus, it’s important to be prepared and take precautionary measures. This means not only at home, but at work, at the grocery store, and where ever else you go.
Cleaning, sanitizing, and disinfecting are all ways to protect you, your family, friends, and community from the virus. As you know, cleaning is a pretty general term, so let’s get some clarity.
Cleaning involves removing dirt, dust, and germs from a surface by washing with water and soap. Cleaning does’t necessarily kill germs, just removes them. That doesn’t mean cleaning isn’t important. If you think about it, it’s important to remove as must dust and debris as possible, before sanitizing or disinfecting.
We’re all familiar with sanitizing, since we have been using it on our hands to protect us from COVID-19. Like disinfecting, sanitizing kills germs, but since disinfecting is said by the EPA to kill more germs, it’s best to use EPA approved disinfecting products for the most protection. These disinfecting products are proven to kill viruses on hard surfaces.
Some of the surfaces you should consider disinfecting often, are:
- Faucets
- Filing cabinet handles
- Doorknobs
- Window levers
- Keyboards
- Light switches
- and all other commonly touched surfaces
We use a variety of commercial-grade disinfectants at Summit. If you’re interested in learning more about our disinfecting services, check out this page: https://summitcleanserve.com.cwd.lightningbasehosted.com/germicidal-disinfection/
